Seller Policy

Last updated: 30 August 2026

1. Selling on ToneTrade

Sellers list musical instruments and gear for sale to buyers on ToneTrade. You must honour listings, ship after payment is held in TradeSafe escrow, and complete TradeSafe onboarding (including bank details) so payouts can settle.

2. Listing standards

  • Draft listings on any device (desktop OK for title, price, condition, courier, description).
  • Listings go public automatically after ToneTrade approves your seller account, and only with at least 3 live phone photos of the actual item (camera capture with location stamp for moderators — not shown publicly). Desktop image uploads are not allowed for listing photos.
  • Disclose damage, modifications, and missing parts honestly.
  • Set an honest condition: Like new, Used, Refurbished, or For parts.
  • Serial numbers are optional and are not shown on the public product page by default.
  • Choose one courier and a delivery fee (or free shipping) per listing.
  • Do not list items on the Prohibited Items list.

3. Fulfilment

  • Do not ship until TradeSafe confirms funds are in escrow.
  • Pack instruments to survive courier handling; retain proof of postage / tracking.
  • Dispatch within your stated processing time.

4. Verification

Sellers and Business accounts must submit identity and/or business documents for ToneTrade moderator review. You may add listings before approval — they stay private. After verification, listings with at least 3 live phone photos go public automatically. Stores stay hidden until you are approved. Every ToneTrade checkout includes TradeSafe escrow protection for buyers and sellers.

5. Fees & payouts

ToneTrade commission and TradeSafe escrow fees are described on Fees. Payouts go to the bank account registered with TradeSafe after release.

6. Enforcement

ToneTrade may remove listings, suspend stores, or refuse service for policy breaches, fraud risk, or repeated disputes. Off-platform payment requests for ToneTrade orders are prohibited.

7. Listing inquiries

  • Buyers may ask pre-purchase questions via Ask seller on your listing — one thread per buyer and listing. Unread counts appear on Listing inquiries in your dashboard.
  • Respond in your seller dashboard under Listing inquiries. When you buy gear yourself, your own questions sit in My Account → Listing questions. Keep communication on ToneTrade.
  • Do not share personal email, phone, WhatsApp, or ask buyers to pay off-platform in messages.
  • After a sale, use Order support for delivery — listing inquiry threads close automatically when the item sells or the buyer purchases.
